Make your kids’ dreams come true with this Baked Macaroni Cheese Pie! We love mac and cheese, right? And we definitely love pies! So I thought, why not put the two together! This macaroni pie is super easy to put together. It’s a bit like assembling a lasagna, but even simpler – layers of elbow macaroni, grated cheddar cheese and the milky egg sauce to bring it all together.
Baked until the top is a beautiful golden brown, a slice of this pie is cheesy, creamy and delicious. Because it’s less runny than a bowl of mac n cheese, I usually take the opportunity to plate it up next to a small fresh salad with a zingy dressing. And the kids still devour it all!
To make the Baked Macaroni Cheese Pie, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Half-fill a pan with water, add a pinch of salt and bring to the boil. Add the macaroni and cook until al dente, around 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.
Whisk the eggs and milk together in a bowl or jug.
Spread half of the cooked macaroni over the bottom of a baking dish. Scatter with half of the cheese, then spread the rest of the macroni over the top. Sprinkle over the remaining cheese and then pour the egg mixture evenly over the whole dish. Lastly, sprinkle with a little salt.
Bake for an hour. If the top starts to over-brown, cover with foil.
The kids will love this Baked Macaroni Cheese Pie - and I’m pretty sure you will too! I’d love to hear how you find it, so leave your thoughts below or tag #cookmerecipes in your pics!
