I think Marble Cake is one of the coolest looking cakes out there. Light and dark cake batters are gently swirled together to give the cake a marble effect when you cut into it. This recipe makes a wonderfully moist marble cake with swirls of vanilla and chocolate cake.
The beauty of this recipe is that the chocolate cake batter comes from the vanilla batter, which means it’s quick and easy to make and reduces the clean-up! To make my version of marble cake, I simply mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk to make the vanilla batter. I then reserve some of the batter and mix it with cocoa to make the chocolate batter. So simple, but so effective. The swirls in this cake make it look really good when you cut into it.
To make Marble Cake, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Lightly grease and flour a round 9-inch pan.
Add the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk to a large mixing bowl.
With an electric mixer, beat the mixture on a low speed to moisten it. Once moist, increase the speed to medium and beat for about 2 minutes until smooth.
Keep 3/4 cup of batter to one side and pour the rest into the baking pan.
Mix the cocoa into the 3/4 cup reserved batter to make the chocolate cake mix.
Drop spoonfuls of the chocolate batter on top of the vanilla. With a knife or a skewer, swirl the cocoa batter into the white batter to create a marble effect.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to cool and serve with a cup of your favorite tea or coffee.
