Apple Rose Tart

I am a sucker for afternoon tea and you’ll often find me baking treats in my kitchen, one of my favorites is this Apple Rose Tart. Cinnamon and sugar, tossed with thinly sliced apples and topped beautifully with a flower and rose inspired design.

The base is made of a soft and moist, cake-like base to complete the tart. Enjoy warm with some double whipped, fresh cream.

    Preheat oven and prepare baking pan

    Preheat oven to 375 ̊F and lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter.

    In a mixing bowl, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.

    Using a pastry blender, cut chilled butter into the flour and pulse for 1-2 minutes until crumbles form into pea-size balls.

    In a small bowl, lightly whisk the egg until beaten.

    Add cream and stir to combine. Pour over the flour crumble and fold with a spatula until batter comes together. Do not over mix. Spread dough evenly over the base of the greased springform pan.

    In a large bowl, toss the apple slice with sugar and cinnamon until well coated. Arrange apple slices in rings, starting with bigger slices at the edge working inwards, overlapping as you go. Layer 3 thin apple slices in a long strip over ½-inch space in the center. Roll strips together for a center rose. Dot rose with butter.
