If you love cheese, you will adore this Baked Brie in a Sourdough Bread Bowl recipe. This is a simple yet very decadent and impressive dish that your guests will adore. My advice – do not make this for 2 people unless you fancy a challenge!!!
To make this baked cheese, start by cutting off the top part of the bread to create a lid. Carefully cut out a circle the same size as the cheese, taking care not to cut through the base of the bread. Pull the bread from the center of the loaf where the cheese will be placed. Tear the bread into small chunks, place on a baking tray and drizzle the chunks with olive oil. Place the cheese in the hollowed-out bread and sprinkle with brown sugar. Pour white wine over the sugar and top with the chopped rosemary. Bake in the oven and serve with crackers and the toasted bread chunks from the inside of the sourdough boule.
To make Baked Brie in a Sourdough Bread Bowl, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat oven to 450 °F
Slice the rounded top part of the bread off with a serrated bread knife to create a lid. Set the lid aside and carefully cut out a circle the same size making sure to not go through the base of the bread. Pull out the bread from the center to create a space where the cheese will be placed.
Tear the bread you remove into small chunks. Place the chunks on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil.
Remove some of the surface of the brie using a sharp knife.
Place the brie wheel in the hollowed out center of the loaf. Sprinkle the surface of the cheese evenly with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar.
Pour 2 ½ teaspoons of wine over the sugar and top with 1 tablespoon of chopped rosemary.
Place the bread on the same baking tray as the lid and the bread chunks. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
Serve straight from the oven with extra crackers and the toasted bread chunks.
