Cherry Chewbilees
I love these Cherry Chewbilees as a sweet treat in summer time. This recipe was shared with me by one of my best friends and it has become one of my favorite cherry recipes. It is simple to make and keeps really well in the refrigerator.
To make this recipe, start by making a crumb base from flour, sugar and shortening. Add nuts and coconut and reserve some of the crumb dough. Bake the rest in a baking dish. As it bakes, make a cream cheese filling and bake again. Top with cherry pie filling and sprinkle remaining nuts and reserved dough crumbs. Bake again. Once cooked, leave to cool completely before cutting into bars. Enjoy!

Bitter and not too sweet even though it looks like it.
Careful with the vanilla extract cause if you put too much the entire dish can taste bad.
BOMB dessert! Enough said.
My kids devoured these cherry chewbilees almost instantly topped with some vanilla icecream, they'll officially be bouncing off the walls before passing out soundly from sugar rush soon hahaha! Thanks for the amazing dessert <3
Vibrant colors always stand for a great dessert/meal, going to try this out today for sure !
Needs a bit more sugar and I'd even say to add something else like cinnamon.
I've tried this cherry one before in for me it tasted way too strongly so I decided to swap a few things around, firstly I changed walnuts to almonds, then i made the bottom crust graham cinnamon cookies. I also swapped out cherry for apple and madde apple chewbilees topped with a drizzle of caramel!!
Not my personal favorite but it sure was tasty! I did go double on the sugar for my sweet tooth lol.
Tasty treat for any summer day for sure! Served mine with some lilac shandy from this site too, both go great together (-:
Mine was extremely chewy that it almost took too long to chew..not sure what I did wrong exactly as I followed the reciep to the T.
Despite my best effort everything still was crumbly but still had a delicious taste to it so i'm not too disappointed, i'd say this is a hard dish to make but worth all the hard work/effort cause the treat pays off well :)
Strong flavor and easy to make loved every bite of it.
Good dish easy to make will make it again 5 from me.
Summer sweet treat!
