In addition, my favorite Earl Grey flavor infuses these crispy and tender shortbread cookies. Besides, this dough is ideal for a slice-and-bake log. Yes, it’s that easy!

These butter shortbread cookies are so easy to make, and they taste so amazing that you will definitely want to include them on your Christmas shortbread cookie list. And if you wish to make them kid-friendly, use the decaf Earl Grey tea alternative.

Combine flour, tea, and salt

In a food processor, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons Earl Grey tea leaves, and ½ teaspoon salt.

Pulse together until the tea leaves are spotted throughout the flour.

Add sugar, vanilla, and butter

Add ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 cup butter.

Pulse again until the dough is formed but do not over mix.

Form dough log

Transfer the dough on a piece of plastic wrap and roll into a 2½-inch log. Twist the ends tightly, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven and prepare baking sheets

Meanwhile, heat the oven to 375 °F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cut dough log

Unwrap the log and cut into 24 (â…“-inch thick) slices. Place shortbread slices 2-inch apart on baking sheets.

Bake for 12 minutes until the edges are just brown.

Let the cookies cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheets before transferring to the wire rack to cool completely.
