I adore this Homemade Fresh Tomato Pizza. It is really easy to prepare once you have your pizza dough. I usually have a dough ball in the freezer, either ready-made or homemade.
To make this pizza, start by placing cherry tomatoes, oil, oregano, salt, and chopped fresh basil in a bowl and mixing together. Place the tomato mixture onto pizza dough and add any extras toppings you wish (except olives). Bake the pizza in the oven until the dough is cooked. Remove from the oven and scatter shredded mozzarella on top. Return to the oven and continue to bake until the cheese has melted. Remove, slice, serve and enjoy!
To make these Homemade Fresh Tomato Pizza, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 425 °F.
If using store-bought premade dough, knead it back into a ball and cover with a cotton towel and let it rest for 30 minutes. If using homemade dough, then follow the directions from the next step.
Combine the halved cherry tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of oil, oregano, salt, and chopped fresh basil in a medium salad bowl and mix together gently.
Roll the dough flat with a rolling pin until you have a ½-inch thick circle.
Transfer the tomato mixture to the dough and spread out. Add any extra toppings you like. I add 2 Italian sausages, 1 medium onion, 8-10 mushrooms.
Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes until the dough is cooked.
Remove the pizza from the oven and top with the shredded mozzarella (and 8-10 olives if using). Return the pizza to the oven and continue to bake for 3 - 4 more minutes until the cheese is melted.
Slice and serve while warm.
