Loaded Slow-Cooker Grits

Recipe Description

This Loaded Slow-Cooker Grits recipe is one of my favorite ways to cook grits. Grits is one of those love it or hate it dishes, but I’m firmly in the love camp! Grits are often served as a breakfast dish but I eat it at all times of the day!

Start by combining grits, water, 1 cup Cheddar cheese and about half the bacon in the bowl of a slow cooker. Season the mixture with salt and pepper and leave it to stand for a minute. Once the grits settle at the bottom, cover and cook on high until the grits are tender. Alternatively, you can cook the grits on low for 8 hours. Add butter, green onions and the remaining cheese and bacon. Stir until the butter is melted. Serve warm.
