Fill your Thanksgiving bread basket with these Soft Dinner Rolls because no Thanksgiving table is complete without bread. Fluffy and soft, these simple rolls are sure to impress. Brush the hot rolls with melted butter for the ultimate finishing touch, and enjoy!
This recipe is one of my favorites. It is easy to make and requires simple ingredients I always have on hand, but yet still so delicious. The dough comes together quickly with a stand mixer. First, I use a whisk attachment to combine the ingredients. Next, I switch to a dough hook. You can also knead the dough by hand; it should take about 10 minutes. Once the dough has proved, shape it into 15 rolls and arrange in the prepared baking pan. Let the rolls rise for about one hour, and then bake until they are golden and perfect. As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, brush them with melted butter for extra flavor. Yummy!
To make the Soft Dinner Rolls, you will need the following ingredients:
In a bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together 1 ½ cups warm milk and 1 tablespoon sugar. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of yeast over the milk and let sit for 1 minute. Whisk together and let it sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
Add 4 tablespoons melted butter, remaining sugar, and 1 ¼ teaspoon salt.
Add the flour half a cup at a time and whisk in to incorporate between each addition. Continue doing that until the dough is too thick to whisk, then switch to the dough hook attachment and knead the dough on speed 2 until it feels sticky and tacky but doesn’t stick to dry fingertips. Mix in about 4 cups of flour, adding the last 1 to 3 tablespoons of flour only if needed.
Knead the dough with the dough hook attachment for 2 minutes or knead by hand for 10 minutes.
Transfer the dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap, then let the dough rise in a warm place for about 2 hours or until the dough doubles in size.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and cut it into 15 even pieces. Roll each piece of dough into balls and arrange them in an oiled 9×13-inch baking pan or baking sheet.
Cover the dinner rolls with plastic wrap and let them rise for about 30 to 60 minutes or until puffed.
Preheat the oven to 375 °F.
Bake the rolls for about 23-25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
While the rolls are still hot from the oven, brush the tops with melted butter and set aside to cool to room temperature.
Serve these rolls alongside your Thanksgiving dinner and enjoy!
