Ingredients

50g Dark chocolate 55% cocoa solids is fine
60g Butter
1 tbsp Milk water or coffee
300g Self-rising flour
½ tsp Baking soda
85g Sugar
50g Caster sugar
1 Eggs
142ml Sour cream carton
For the Web Topping:
100g Dark chocolate as above
100g White chocolate

Trick or treat time with these Spider Web Chocolate Fudge Muffins as a big time treat this Halloween. Delicious and moist, chocolate fudge muffins with intricate purer-web designs, made from dark and white chocolate, on top of each muffin.

Steps to make Spider Web Chocolate Fudge Muffins

Preheat oven and prepare muffin trays

Preheat the oven to fan 170C/ conventional 190C/gas 5 and line a muffin baking tray with 10 paper liners.

Melt butter and chocolate

In a microwavable bowl, break the chocolate, butter and add the liquid. (Either milk, coffee or water.) Place in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds or set a bowl over simmering water, until melted. Stir and set aside to cool.

Combine dry ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, bicarbonate of soda, sugar and caster sugar.

Beat egg

In a separate bowl, beat the egg.

Add sour cream

Add sour cream and stir to mix.

Combine all ingredients

Add the egg mixture and cooled, melted chocolate to the bowl of dry ingredients and stir to combine. Do not overmix.

Bake

Portion batter into each muffin case, about ¾ full each and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until risen. Once cooked, remove from muffin tray and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.

Prepare topping

In 2 separate bowls, break dark and white chocolate and melt in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Place 2 spoonfuls of each chocolate into 2 individual, sep earth piping bags

Top muffins

Top one muffin at a time by spreading melted, dark chocolate from the bowl on each one. Let it run down the sides a bit. Pipe four concentric circles of white chocolate on top and using a small skewer, drag through the circles at regular intervals, from the centre to the edge, to create a cobweb effect. Repeat to make 5 of this design and with the remaining 5 muffins spread white chocolate over the top and use dark chocolate for the cobweb design.

Serve

Best eaten fresh or the very next day.
