This Swedish Meatball Bake with Pasta really is a phenomenal, feel-good food dinner recipe and it’s a great family-friendly option.
These Swedish meatballs have a bit of chopped onion and nutmeg in the mixture with a buttery cream sauce, cooked pasta and topped with shredded cheese that when popped in the oven, oozes all over the meatball bake.
To make Swedish Meatball Bake with Pasta, you will need the following ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, add 1 pound of ground beef, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, 1 ounce of chopped onion, ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg, and a pinch of salt and pepper then mix until well combined.
Use your hands to roll the prepared mixture into medium-sized balls.
In a pan, heat some olive oil and add the meatballs. Cook until browned evenly, all over. Remove from heat and set aside on a plate.
In the same pan, return to the heat and melt 3 tablespoons of butter.
Add 2 tablespoons of flour and stir to mix into the butter.
Pour in 1½ cups of beef broth and ¼ cup of cream and continuously whisk to ensure the sauce doesn’t get lumpy.
Preheat the oven to 355 °F.
Place cooked pasta in a casserole dish and top with the browned meatballs. Pour the prepared cream sauce over the meatballs so that they are fully and evenly covered and then sprinkle 3½ ounces of shredded cheese over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes.
Serve hot and enjoy!
