Sometimes you need a stylish plate and this Blackberry Ricotta Pizza with Basil is not just a palate pleaser but also looks absolutely stunning, too.
Prepare your own pizza crust and use a 3 cheese mix of Parmesan cheese, Swiss or mozzarella and ¾ cup white ricotta cheese. I use chopped green onion, olive oil, salt and ground black pepper for my seasoning and I place gorgeous blackberries which ooze stunning, purple juices and fresh green basil leaves, for equal original flavor and gorgeous aesthetic.
To make Blackberry Ricotta Pizza with Basil, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 450 °F and place your pizza stone in the oven if you have one.
Roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly floured sheet of baking parchment to about 12-inches. If not using a baking stone, transfer dough to a baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the crust and brush to coat well, focusing on the edges.
In a medium bowl, using a fork, mash the blackberries. Using a slotted spoon, place the mashed blackberry pulp evenly over the pizza crust and spread like you would a pizza base sauce.
Evenly sprinkle the Parmesan cheese and Swiss or mozzarella over the blackberry sauce and spoon dollops of ricotta on top.
Garnish with whole fresh blackberries and chopped green onions, to top and sprinkle with salt and black pepper, to taste.
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes until the top begins to brown.
Broil for 1 minute, if you prefer a crispier top.
Remove from the oven and garnish with sprinkles of chopped basil before slicing and serving hot!
