I promise these Fresh Cherry Muffins are the best berry muffins in town. I make them every week during cherry season. My friends and I love to go cherry picking and then we head home to bake these freshly.

There are never too many but if their happens to be, I freeze them and pop them in the microwave for about 20 seconds for that perfect midday snack with my coffee. These muffins are yum!

Steps to make Fresh Cherry Muffins

Preheat oven and prepare tin

Preheat oven to 400 °F and line a muffin tin with muffins paper liners.

Combine dry ingredients

In a bowl, combine the flour, ¾ cup sugar, baking powder and salt.

Combine wet ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil, milk, egg and almond extract.

Combine all ingredients

Gently mix both bowls together until the wet and dry ingredients are well combined.

Add cherries

Fold in the cherries.

Prepare muffins

Slowly spoon the batter into the muffin paper liners about ⅔ full and sprinkle with sugar on top of each muffin.

Bake muffins

Bake muffins in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once cooked, transfer to a wire rack to cool before serving.
