This Orange Date Bread gives me the opportunity to bake with one of my favorite dried fruits: dates! I absolutely adore dates. Sweet and sticky and moist, they are increasingly used as a natural sugar substitute in cakes and sweet treats. Soaking dried dates in liquid can help to boost their moisture and flavor. If you like an added crunch, you could add some pecan nuts or walnuts to the batter before baking.
This orange date bread recipe is so easy to make too. Start by heating orange juice in a saucepan. Remove from the heat once the juice simmers and stir in dates. Leave to rest until cool. Meanwhile, add the dry ingredients to a mixing bowl. Once cool, add beaten eggs to the orange and date mixture and combine with the dry ingredients. Bake in the oven and enjoy while still warm!
To make Orange Date Bread, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Lightly grease and flour a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
Bring 1 cup of orange juice to a simmer in a saucepan. Once simmering, remove the pan from the heat and stir in 8 ounces of dates. Let the dates stand in the orange juice for about 25 minutes, until cooled.
Add 2 cups of flour, 3 teaspoons of baking powder, ¾ teaspoon of cinnamon, ½ a teaspoon of salt and ¾ cup of granulated sugar to a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
Beat 2 large eggs.
Add beaten eggs to the cooled orange and date mixture along with 4 tablespoons of melted butter.
Pour the date mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until well blended. Transfer the date bread batter to the prepared loaf pan.
Bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes until the top of the cake is browned. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
Serve large slices of this bread while it’s still slightly warm.

Simplicissimo e buono! I miei bambini lo adorano e lo richiedono sempre. In una giornata piovosa, abbiamo passato tempo a cuocere insieme. La combinazione di arancia e datteri è deliziosa. È diventato il nostro preferito in casa!
Fun recipe! Subbed the sugar for more dates, which I soaked in water and blended into a paste. Fun fact - dates are actually not dried fruit.

Replaced granulated sugar with brown sugar and glazed this bread with lemon glaze (lemon juice and powdered sugar mixed together)
