I love these Pumpkin Pecan Scones with Brown Sugar Streusel, warm and fresh, straight out of the oven. An easy bake recipe for the base of the pumpkin pecan scone made from sour milk, flour, brown sugar and eggs and filled with canned pumpkin purée, pumpkin spice, pumpkin spice baking chips and chopped pecans, topped with sprinkles of brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and butter into a crunchy and delicious streusel.
To make Pumpkin Pecan Scones with Brown Sugar Streusel, you will need the following ingredients:
In a small bowl, mix milk and vinegar until combined. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt and baking soda until combined.
Using a grater, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients and fold together until combined.
In a mixing bowl, whisk the sour milk, egg and pumpkin purée together until well combined.
Bring the wet and dry ingredients together, in one mixing bowl and add pumpkin spice baking chips and pecans. Gently mix until just combined.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and using your hands, knead for 10-12 times. Form a ball, press it down slightly and wrap in plastic wrap. Place the dough in the fridge for 1 hour.
Combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and butter together until mixture resembles a coarse, crumble-like streusel.
Remove the chilled dough from the freezer and flatten into a circle, 10-inches diameter and ¾-inch thick, on a well-greased baking sheet. Sprinkle the streusel over the scone dough, evenly, keeping the baking sheet as clean as possible. Press lightly into the dough. Using a sharp knife, cut into 8 even wedges. Carefully, pull the wedges apart to separate them slightly on the baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven at 400 °F for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
