3-4 Apples large, peeled, cored, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
1/4 cup Sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 cup Butter
1 Eggs beaten
1/3 cup Cream
For Streusel topping:
2 tbsp Butter cold
1/2 cup Brown sugar
2 tbsp All-purpose flour
2 tsp Cinnamon ground

This Ukrainian Apple Cake (Yabluchnyk) recipe is a family old recipe passed down through the generations. We’re not exactly sure where it originated in our family, but we love it! You can use any fruit in the center, such as peaches, plums and even berries.

I top the cake with dollops of fresh cream and I make sure to have extra streusel syrup, so that’s it’s dripping and divine!

Preheat oven and prepare pan

Preheat oven to 375 °F. Line the bottom circles a 9 inch cake pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.

Combine dry ingredients

Sift together 1½ cups of flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

Add butter

Cut in ½ cup of butter until the mixture is crumbly.

Combine egg and cream

Stir together the egg with the cream.

Create dough

Gently mix the cream into the flour mixture, until a soft dough has formed.

Prepare for baking

Press into prepared baking dish. Create layers of overlapping apples in neat, uniformed rows.

Prepare streusel

For the streusel, mix together the brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and cinnamon together, in a small bowl. Crumble 2 tablespoons of butter into the mixture, and sprinkle the crumbs over apples.

Bake in preheated oven until apples have softened, and topping has browned, about 25 minutes.

Cool the apple cake and serve.
