4 Zucchini sliced
4 large Tomatoes sliced
1 large clove Garlic crushed
4 ounces Mozzarella thinly sliced
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese grated
1 tbsp fresh Basil chopped
2 tbsp Olive oil
Salt to taste

I’m always looking for a great dish to serve with steak and this Zucchini and Tomato Gratin is the best cheesy and saucy partner to my juicy fillets.

Baked in a hot oven, these layers of zucchini slices and tomato with crushed garlic and a double cheese mix of melted mozzarella and grated Parmesan. This recipe hits the good spot every time and enjoyed by everyone who tries it!

Steps to make Zucchini and Tomato Gratin


Preheat oven


Preheat oven to 375 °F.


Cook zucchini


In a large skillet over medium heat, spread a layer of zucchini slices with sprinkles of garlic on top. Do not overlap, cook in batches. Cook for about 8 minutes until golden brown on both sides. Remove from heat and set aside.


Prepare gratin


In a 9x12-inch glass gratin dish, layer slices of zucchini and a layer of mozzarella cheese with tomato over the top. Repeat creating neat rows of zucchini and mozzarella cheese with tomato.




Scatter grated Parmesan cheese and basil over the final layer and season with salt and pepper.




Bake for about 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.




Remove from oven and enjoy hot!
