Love apple pie but don’t have the time to make it? I’ve got your back. Enter this amazing Apple Pie Mug Cake recipe! It’s super fast and easy and requires only a handful of pantry staple ingredients. This delicious mug cake tastes like the real thing and makes for a perfect pick-me-up treat. Enjoy it warm, right out of the microwave, with a dollop of whipped cream if you wish.

You can whip this apple mug cake in 6 minutes tops. To start off this recipe, whisk together your dry ingredients. Then whisk in the wet ingredients until the batter is smooth. Add a few tablespoons of the prepared batter to each of the two 14-oz microwave-safe mugs. I find those with straight sides work best. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar and add a scoop of the apple pie filling. Alternate layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a little more cinnamon sugar. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes for both mugs together, then let them cool for a few minutes before eating. This microwave apple cake recipe makes two single-serve mugs so you can share them with a friend.

Steps to make Apple Pie Mug Cake


Combine dry ingredients


In a small bowl, whisk together ¾ cup all-purpose flour, ¼ cup sugar, ½ teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon.


Add in wet ingredients


Add in ½ cup milk, 4 tablespoons melted and cooled butter, and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, mixing well in between adding each ingredient.


Start assembling


Add several spoonfuls of the prepared batter to each of two 14-oz microwave-safe mugs.


Add apple pie filling and cinnamon sugar


Sprinkle the top with a little cinnamon sugar and add a scoop of apple pie filling.


Alternate layers

Alternate layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.




Place both mugs in the microwave and cook on high for 2-3 minutes. Alternatively, microwave 1 mug at a time for 1 ½ - 2 minutes. Remove and let cool for a couple of minutes.



Serve these apple pie mug cakes warm with a dollop of whipped cream, if you wish, and enjoy!
