Melt butter

In a saucepan over medium-low heat, heat ¾ cup milk and ⅓ cup softened butter until the butter is melted. Remove and set aside to cool until lukewarm.

Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl of a stand mixer, mix together 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons instant yeast, ¼ cup white sugar, and ½ teaspoon salt.

Add egg and water

Add in 1 egg and ¼ cup lukewarm water and mix using the dough hook attachment until just combined.

Add milk mixture and more flour

Slowly pour in the milk mixture and add the remaining 1 cup flour. Mix until soft and smooth. Set aside for 10 minutes to rest.

Roll out dough

Once the dough has rested for 10 minutes, use a rolling pin to roll it into a 9x15-inch rectangle, about ½-¼-inch thick.

Fill rolls

Spread 5 tablespoons softened butter on top leaving out about ½-inch from the edge. Combine ¾ cup white sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon nutmeg and sprinkle it all over the butter. Top evenly with 2 chopped apples.

Shape into rolls

Roll up the dough into a 15-inch log and pinch the seams. Cut the log into 12 even pieces.

Place the rolls in a lightly greased 9x13-inch pan and cover with a damp cloth and leave to rise for 30 minutes.

In a saucepan, combine ¼ cup butter and ½ cup white sugar and melt until the sugar dissolves. Add ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk and bring to a boil. Boil over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes.

Pour the glaze over the still warm rolls.
