1 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Baking powder
1 cup Granulated sugar
1/2 cup Butter
1 Eggs
1 cup Sour cream
1 tsp Vanilla extract
For cream cheese filling:
2 (8-oz) packages Cream Cheese softened
1/2 cup Granulated sugar
1 Eggs
For crumble topping:
1/2 cup Pecans chopped
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1/3 cup All-purpose flour
1/3 cup Butter cold, cubed

Moist and buttery, it features a layer of rich and slightly tangy cream cheese – a perfect pairing for this sweet and tender cake. A crumbly buttery topping adds texture and great flavor too. The cake is dense, but each bite is moist and crumbly. Serve up a slice with your favorite cup of coffee for a wonderful treat.  

There are three parts to this cake. First is the simple cake dough, but the one special ingredient is sour cream to give the cake that moist crumb. The other part is the cream cheese filling. Simply beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, and one egg until smooth. Then for the top of the cake, make a streusel with butter, pecans, flour, and sugar. Bake the cake until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool, then slice and serve!

Steps to make Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

Heat oven and prepare baking pan

Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with oil or butter.

Combine dry ingredients

In a bowl, sift together 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon baking powder and set aside.

Cream butter and sugar

In a large bowl, cream ½ cup butter and 1 cup granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy.

Add egg

Add 1 egg and beat until combined.

Add sour cream and vanilla

Add in 1 cup sour cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla and beat until combined.

Add dry ingredients

Add in the dry ingredients and beat until the mixture forms a sticky dough.

Spread half dough

Spread half of the dough evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Make cream cheese filling

In a bowl, beat together 2 (8-oz) packages cream cheese, ½ cup granulated sugar, and 1 egg until smooth.

Spread cream cheese filling over dough

Spoon the prepared cream cheese filling over the dough.

Add remaining dough

Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough evenly over the cream cheese filling.

Make crumble topping

In a bowl, combine ½ cup chopped pecans, ½ cup brown sugar, ⅓ cup of all-purpose flour, and ⅓ cup cold butter until crumbly.

Sprinkle topping over

Sprinkle the crumble topping over the dough.

Bake the cake for 45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool completely.
