These Easy Garlic Flatbreads are the perfect accompaniment for curries or for dipping into hummus. This recipe is super easy to make and it requires very few ingredients meaning that you can probably make these easy healthy flatbreads with ingredients you have in your pantry today!
Start by mixing flour, baking powder and natural yogurt together to make a dough. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead to bring the dough together. This isn’t a typical bread recipe that you make with yeast, so you don’t need to knead it and prove it for long – you just need to knead for enough time to bring everything together. I recommend that you make a herby garlic butter to brush the flatbreads with when they are hot off the griddle! Enjoy!
To make Easy Garlic Flatbreads, you will need the following ingredients:
Place 350 grams of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 350 grams of natural yogurt in a mixing bowl. Using your hands, bring the dough together.
Transfer the dough to a floured work surface. Knead the dough for about a minute or two to bring it all together.
Place the dough in a bowl which is dusted with flour. Cover the bowl with a plate and set aside.
Peel and crush two cloves of garlic. Finely chop a bunch of herb leaves. Discard the stalks. Place the butter in a small pan and melt it over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic and chopped herbs and set aside.
Place the dough on a clean, floured work surface. Divide the dough in half. Divide each half into 6 equal-sized dough balls (approximately the size of a golf ball).
Flatten the dough with your hands and using a rolling pin, roll each piece into round flatbreads, approximately ⅛ inch thick.
Slice 6 lines into the center of each flatbread, using a knife. Leave around 1 inch at each end. Heat a griddle pan over high heat. When the pan is hot, cook each bread for 1 to 2 minutes on each side.
When the flatbreads are cooked, brush immediately with the herby garlic butter.
Serve on a sharing plate alongside your favorite curry.
