Fried Mozzarella Sticks are the ultimate more-ish snack and are always a winner in my house! We always used to order mozzarella sticks as a starter in restaurants but now we enjoy them at home as well. I usually serve a big batch of these (I double the quantity for my family!) before our main meal on a Saturday night, alongside a few favorite dips like tomato salsa and BBQ sauce. You can buy packs of mozzarella sticks in all big stores, so all you need to do is prepare the coatings and heat up some oil. The breadcrumb coating, flavored with garlic salt, gives you that beautiful crunch when you bite into the stick and hit that oozing melted mozzarella in the center, the ultimate texture combination!
To make Fried Mozzarella Sticks, you will need the following ingredients:
Lay out three shallow bowls. In one, combine the eggs and water. In the second, combine the flour and cornstarch. In the third, combine the breadcrumbs and garlic salt.
In a large heavy-based pan or wok, heat the oil to 365°F.
Take each mozzarella stick and dip it first into the flour, ensuring it is fully coated. Then dip it into the egg mixture, followed by the breadcrumbs. Place on a plate.
Once all the sticks have been coated, add them to the oil, a few at a time. Cook for about 30 seconds, turning, until they are golden brown all over. Use a slotted spoon to remove the sticks from the oil and transfer to paper towel-lined plates. Repeat until all the sticks have been fried.
These Fried Mozzarella Sticks show that it doesn’t have to be difficult to make your favorite restaurant starters at home! Give this recipe a while and see what you think. Tag your melting mozzarella moments with #cookmerecipes so I can see how you get on!
