This Homemade Tomato Juice is a great way to use up a glut of tomatoes at the end of summer. If you have never tasted a Bloody Mary made with homemade tomato juice, you are in for a treat!
It is so simple to make this juice. Start by placing all of the ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, uncovered, until soupy. Push the mixture through a sieve or a food mill and leave to cool completely. This juice will last for about 1 week in the refrigerator if covered.
To make Homemade Tomato Juice, you will need the following ingredients:
Place all of the ingredients in a large non-reactive pot (stainless steel, not aluminum).
Bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook, uncovered for about 25 minutes until mixture is completely soupy.
Push the mixture through a sieve or food mill to extract the juice. Leave to cool completely.
Serve chilled. This juice will last for about 1 week in the refrigerator if covered.
