Orange Pumpkin Custards are my signature Fall dessert. They are smooth and creamy with a sweet crispy topping. They are flavored with pumpkin spice making them the perfect dessert when the weather starts to get chilly.
Making these custards is actually really easy. Start by heating orange juice and vanilla and placing raisins in the liquid to soak up the juice. Mix pumpkin with evaporated milk, brown sugar, egg and pumpkin pie and pour the mixture into individual custard pots. Top with a sugar and oat mixture and bake for 30 minutes. These taste best served warm.
To make Orange Pumpkin Custards, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 375 °F and grease eight 6 oz soufflé dishes or custard cups with nonstick cooking spray. Place the dishes on a baking sheet or in a shallow baking pan and set aside.
Heat the orange juice and vanilla in a small saucepan until warm, but do not boil. Add the raisins and set the saucepan to one side.
Mix the pumpkin, evaporated milk, brown sugar, egg and pumpkin pie spice together in a large bowl.
Stir in the raisins and any orange juice that is left in the saucepan.
Pour the pumpkin custard into individual dishes.
Mix the rolled oats and brown sugar together in a small bowl. Stir in the melted butter.
Sprinkle the topping over each custard.
Bake for 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted near the center(s) comes out clean.
Allow to cool slightly. Serve while still warm.
