This recipe is easy to make and requires just a few simple ingredients. My favorite tool to make these garlic rolls is my stand mixer. The dough comes together quickly. Just mix the dough with your mixer and let it rise for 1 hour. Once the dough has doubled in size, divide it into 24 dough balls. Let rise 30 more minutes and bake about 25 minutes until golden. These rolls are so good fresh out of the oven with a homemade garlic-herb sauce. The perfect dinner rolls! I like to serve these pampushky with Ukrainian borscht for a hearty meal.
To make the Pampushky Ukrainian Garlic Rolls, you will need the following ingredients:
In a bowl of a stand mixer, combine 250 milliliters warm water with 2 tablespoons sugar. Add 1 teaspoon active dry yeast and stir to dissolve. Set aside to proof for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Slowly add in 450 grams sifted flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Using a dough hook attachment, mix on low until the flour is completely incorporated.
Gradually add in ¼ cup sunflower oil and knead the dough for 8-10 minutes.
Transfer the dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and cut it into 24 even pieces. Roll each piece of dough into balls and arrange them in a greased and parchment paper lined 9×13-inch baking pan.
Cover the dinner rolls with plastic wrap and let them rise for about 30 to 60 minutes or until puffed.
Preheat the oven to 375 °F.
Bake the rolls for about 23-25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
In a small bowl, stir together the minced garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 ¼ tablespoons sunflower oil, 2 tablespoons minced parsley or dill, and ⅙ cup cold water.
While the pampushky rolls are still hot from the oven, brush the tops with the prepared garlic sauce.
Serve these garlic rolls warm with Ukrainian borscht and enjoy!
