I prefer to use frozen berries and bananas for my smoothie recipe. They not only make the drink cold, but also creamy and thick. I usually buy fresh berries while they are in season and freeze them for later use. So, if you decide to use frozen berries and bananas, too, skip the ice. And if you don’t like seeds in your smoothie, swap raspberries and blackberries for strawberries and blueberries. The recipe uses no sugar, and it’s dairy and gluten-free. So you can feel good about sipping this creamy smoothie for breakfast or snack. Note that the recipe serves one but can easily be doubled or tripled.
To make the Antioxidant Berry Banana Smoothie, you will need the following ingredients:
In a blender, put 1 cup coconut water, 1 ½ cups mixed berries, 1 banana, and 1 tablespoon protein powder if using. If using fresh berries, add 4 ice cubes too.
Process until creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes.
Serve in tall glasses and enjoy.
