Cut a pumpkin in half and remove the seeds and stringy bits. Roast the pumpkin halves until the skin blisters and the flesh is very soft. Once cool, place the pumpkin flesh in a food processor and puree until smooth. Strain the puree over a bowl for 2-3 hours, before transferring to the freezer.
To make Homemade Pumpkin Puree, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat your oven to 400 °F.
Cut the pumpkin in half and use a spoon to scoop out any seeds and stringy bits. Place the pumpkin half, cut-side down on a roasting pan.
Place the pumpkin in the oven and roast until the flesh is very soft and the skin begins to blister. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.
Scoop the pumpkin flesh from the skin and place it in a food processor. Blend until smooth.
Line a colander with muslin or cheesecloth and strain the pumpkin over a bowl for about 2-3 hours.
Transfer the pumpkin puree to freezer bags in 1 or 2 cup portions and store in the freezer for up to 3-6 months.
