Ingredients

Olive oil extra virgin
1 Onion large, finely diced
3 ribs Celery finely diced
Kosher Salt to taste
3 cloves Garlic smashed and finely diced
1 lb Sausages spicy, casing removed, broken up into bite-size chunks
3 Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch dice
1 cup Apple cider
½ bunch of Sage leaves , finely chopped
Âľ cup Walnuts coarsely chopped
10 cups Bread stale rustic bread, crusts discarded, cut into 1-inch cubes; or fresh bread slices toasted until crispy but no color, cut into 1-inch cubes
2-3 cups Chicken stock

Sausage, Apple, and Walnut Stuffing will make a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving table this year. Is there a better Thanksgiving combination than sausage, walnut and apple? If there is, I’m yet to find it! I love this flavor combination and I know you will too. make sure you try this classic stuffing this year.

To make the stuffing, start by sauteing onions and celery in olive oil. When the veggies are tender, add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add the sausage and continue to cook until it is brown and cooked through. Mix in the apples, apple cider, sage leaves and walnuts. In a large bowl, combine the sausage mixture with diced bread and toss together. Pour in chicken stock and mix well using your hands. Transfer to a baking dish and cook in the oven until golden and crispy on top.

Steps to make Sausage, Apple, and Walnut Stuffing

Heat oven and prepare baking dish

Preheat the oven to 350 °F and lightly grease a 9x11-inch baking dish.

Saute onions and celery

Saute 1 large diced onion and 3 diced ribs of celery in a skillet with olive oil. Season to taste with salt and pepper and cook until tender.

Add garlic

Add 3 diced cloves of garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

Cook sausage

Add 1 pound of spicy sausage and cook until brown and cooked through.

Add apples and cider

Add three diced apples and one cup of apple cider. Stir well and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

Add sage leaves and walnuts

Add ½ a bunch of sage leaves and ¾ cup of chopped walnuts.

Transfer to a bowl with bread

Transfer the sausage mixture to a bowl with the diced bread and toss well.

Add stock

Pour in 2-3 cups of chicken stock and mix well using your hands. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary.

Transfer to baking dish

Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared baking dish.

Bake

Place in the oven and bake until it is crispy and golden on top.

Serve hot from the oven.
