I love my Dutch oven for slow cooking and this recipe for Slow-Cooked Louisiana Ribs is a knockout. Is there anything better than doing a little bit of prep and then walking away and leaving the oven to do all the work for 1,5-2 hours? Come back and you have ribs with tender meat falling off the bone.
Start by whisking sugar, Cajun seasoning, salt, oregano, and onion powder together in a small bowl. Pat your baby back ribs dry before rubbing the spice mixture all over them. Brush barbecue sauce onto ribs and place them in the Dutch oven. Pour water around the ribs and bake in the oven until tender. Brush the remaining barbecue sauce on the ribs.
To make Slow-Cooked Louisiana Ribs, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat oven to 300º F
Whisk together ¼ cup sugar, 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, 2 teaspoons of kosher salt, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and ½ a teaspoon of onion powder together in a small bowl.
Pat 2 pounds of baby back ribs dry with a paper towel. Rub the spice mixture evenly all over the ribs.
Brush the ribs with ½ a cup of barbecue sauce.
Place the ribs in the bottom of a deep 12-inch Dutch oven and pour water around them. Cover with lid. Bake in the oven for about 1 1/2-2 hours until the meat starts to pull away from the bone and the ribs are tender.
Brush the remaining barbecue sauce on the ribs and serve immediately.
