This easy Best Steak Sandwich recipe will satisfy even the hungriest carnivore. For the recipe, I call for a skirt steak. This thin cut of beef is suitable for quick-cooking and has a great flavor. Besides, you don’t need much seasoning! A generous sprinkle of salt and freshly ground black pepper will perfectly hit the spot. For the best result, remember to start slicing with a rested cooked steak.
Actually, this recipe is one of my favorite lunch options. Especially for working from home days. Because at lunchtime, I like to eat something that is full of protein and will keep me full for the rest of the day. And this sandwich satisfies my craving every time. There is nothing better than a pan-seared steak topped with melted cheese. I like to add a handful of arugula and some sliced Peppadew peppers to top up my vegetable servings for the day. Finally, all of this comfort is piled high on a butter-toasted ciabatta roll. To seal the bread, I use a shortcut aioli. Perfect!
To make the Best Steak Sandwich, you will need the following ingredients:
Brush the steak with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Heat a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add steak and cook until done to taste, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain.
Mash together 2 cloves garlic and ½ teaspoon salt with a mortar and pestle until a paste forms. Place garlic paste into a small bowl and add in 1 tablespoon olive oil, ½ cup mayonnaise, ½ tablespoon lemon zest, and freshly ground black pepper to taste and whisk to combine.
Butter cut sides of ciabatta rolls and toast in a toaster oven until golden.
Layer the sliced steak on the bottom half of each roll and add 2 slices of Provolone cheese on top.
Place back in the toaster oven to melt the cheese. sandwich back in the toaster in order to provide melting of cheese.
Remove from the oven and top sandwiches with arugula and sliced peppers. Spread garlic aioli on top half of ciabatta rolls then place on top.
