Instant Pot Split Pea Soup is the recipe for nights when you crave warming, easy, and comfort food. It is also one of my family’s favorite hearty and filling soup to make for a weeknight dinner. This soup is not only delicious but also easy and quick to prepare, as you can have a bowl of flavorful soup on the table in just 30 minutes. Just put your Instant Pot to work and have this comforting soup in no time!
And my favorite part about this warming recipe is that it uses smoked ham. It is deeply satisfying and creates rich broth too. Moreover, the pressure cooker enriches every single bite with the ham flavor. Serve each steaming bowl with fried bacon pieces, grated Parmesan cheese, croutons, fresh parsley – it’s your choice!
To make the Instant Pot Split Pea Soup, you will need the following ingredients:
Turn a 6-quart pressure cooker to the SAUTĖ setting and pour in 1 tablespoon oil. Add in 1 finely chopped onion, 1 diced carrot, and 1 ½ cups diced ham and sauté for 5 minutes. Then turn off the SAUTĖ setting.
Add in 3 cups chicken stock, 1 cup water, 1 cup split peas, and 1 tablespoon mustard.
Cover the pressure cooker and lock the lid into its position. Set the steam release valve to the SEALING position and press the MANUAL, high pressure for 14 minutes.
When the cooking is finished, let the pot sit for 5 minutes undisturbed before releasing the pressure manually. Taste and add salt, if needed, and black pepper to taste.
Serve immediately with toppings of your choice and enjoy!
