Chocolate Salami

Have you ever tried Chocolate Salami? Famously looks like salami but tastes like the most decadent chocolate treat on the market and the best party trick to use this April Fool’s Day! A Portuguese and Italian dessert invention made from dark chocolate, pistachio nuts and almonds, white chocolate, orange zest and butter cookies. Some add wine or port but this recipe is alcohol free. Almost chewy in texture and shaped like a salami roll, if you haven’t tried one yet then you’re definitely missing out!

To make Chocolate Salami, you will need the following ingredients:

Ingridiens for Chocolate Salami

Steps to make Chocolate Salami

1

Toast nuts

3

In a large skillet over medium-low heat, toss 1 cup of mixed nuts, like pistachios and almonds, for a few minutes until toasted and slightly browned. Set aside to cool.

2

Melt chocolate and butter

1

In a microwave-proof bowl, melt 12 ounces of semisweet chocolate and 6 tablespoons of butter in 20 seconds increments and stirring in between, until completely melted and combined.

3

Add remaining ingredients

2

Fold in the toasted nuts, 2 tablespoons of white chocolate pieces, 1 teaspoon of grated orange zest, and ¼ cup of crushed butter cookies to combine evenly through.

4

Refrigerate

1h

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

5

Prepare logs

1h

Spread out some plastic wrap over a flat surface and place half of the chocolate in the center in a 7½ x 1½-inch log. Wrap the log with the plastic wrap and roll to smooth it over. Twist the ends to tighten the log. Repeat with the remaining chocolate. Refrigerate for about 1 hour until set and firm.

6

Decorate

5

Remove plastic wrap and roll in powdered sugar to dust. Decorate with kitchen twine.

7

Serve

Slice into ¼-inch pieces to enjoy.
