For Lilac Simple Syrup:
2 cups Sugar
2 cups Water
4 cups Lilac florets stems removed, rinsed and cleaned
For Lilac Lemonade:
1 cup Lilac simple syrup
1 cup Lemon juice fresh
2 cups Water distilled
For the Lilac Shandy:
6 ounces Light beer light
6 ounces Lilac lemonade
Garnish:
1 slice Lemon

This Lilac Shandy is beautiful to look at and has a perfect light and fresh taste with a subtle hint of alcohol to enjoy on a gorgeous summer evening.

The best part about this recipe is that I have included steps to preparing your own homemade lilac syrup, homemade lilac lemonade and a homemade lilac shandy. So you can perfect all the finer details!

To make Lilac Shandy, you will need the following ingredients:

Steps to make Lilac Shandy

    Boil sugar

    In a saucepan, boil 2 cups of water and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar until completely dissolved.

    Add florets

    Add 4 cups of rinsed and cleaned florets, cover the saucepan with a lid, reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.

    Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the florets to steep for about 8 hours.

    Strain

    Strain the florets through a fine-mesh sieve and bottle the prepared syrup or use it for a Lilac Shandy.

    Prepare lilac lemonade

    In a large pitcher, stir 1 cup of prepared lilac syrup, 1 cup of fresh lemon juice and 2 cups of distilled water until combined. Taste and adjust to your flavor palette then refrigerate before serving or using in a lilac shandy.

    Prepare lilac shandy

    In a pint glass, pour the beer of your choice until half full then add some of the prepared lilac lemonade from step 5 and stir to combine.

    Garnish with a slice of lemon for serving.
