To make this recipe, start with the cake. Sift together the dry ingredients, then add in the wet ingredients. Use a handheld mixer to beat until the mixture is well combined and smooth. Stir in the boiling water. The batter may seem thin, but once baked, it rises nicely. Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake. Once the cakes have cooled, layer them with chocolate ganache and then pour the remaining ganache over the cake. Slice, serve and enjoy!
To make the One-Bowl Chocolate Cake, you will need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Grease 2 (9-inch) round baking pans and lightly coat with flour.
In a large bowl, sift together 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, 2 cups sugar, ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt and stir to combine.
Stir in 2 eggs, 1 cup buttermilk, ½ cup vegetable oil, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Using a handheld mixer, beat on medium speed for 2 minutes or until the mixture is well combined.
Stir in 1 cup boiling water (the batter will be thin).
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared baking pans.
Bake the cakes for 20 to 35 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove the cakes from the oven and leave to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Invert the cakes onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Microwave 1 cup heavy cream and 1 cup chocolate chips. Microwave on high, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and combined.
Place one of the cakes on a plate and spoon some of the chocolate ganache on top. Spread it out before placing the second cake on top. Spoon the remaining chocolate ganache on top and spread it over the top and sides of the cake.
Slice and serve!
