People often say they hate brussels sprouts but seriously, even the biggest haters can’t resist these Brussels Sprouts in Alfredo Sauce. Brussels sprouts are traditionally eaten at Thanksgiving and Christmas because they are seasonal and readily available but did you know that these little cabbage balls are really good for you? They are high in vitamin C and have other nutritional benefits too!
The secret ingredient when cooking Brussels sprouts is crispy, salty bacon! I start by frying bacon in a skillet. I then cook the sprouts in the leftover bacon fat before making the alfredo sauce from cream, garlic, lemon juice and parmesan cheese. How could you resist this decadent dish?
To make Brussels Sprouts in Alfredo Sauce, you will need the following ingredients:
In a large frying pan or skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Transfer the bacon to a plate and reserve 3 tablespoons of bacon fat in the pan.
Add the brussels sprouts to the bacon fat. Season with ½ a teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper. Cover the pan and cook, stirring occasionally for 8-9 min until tender. Don’t overcook!
Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
Pour the heavy cream into the pan and bring to a simmer.
Mix in the lemon juice. Stir in the parmesan cheese and season to taste. Bring just to a simmer and then remove from the heat.
Serve garnished with the crispy bacon.
