Easter Bunny Rolls

These Easter Bunny Rolls are so cute! You won’t be able to resist making these this Easter! These is a really easy bread roll recipe which doesn’t require much effort on your part as long as you have a stand mixer with a dough attachment!

Start by making the bread dough and leaving it to rise for an hour. Once you have knocked the air out of the dough, start shaping the bunny rolls by twisting ropes of dough and fixing a bunny tail to each one. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sea salt before baking until golden.

To make Easter Bunny Rolls, you will need the following ingredients:

Ingridiens for Easter Bunny Rolls

Steps to make Easter Bunny Rolls

1

Make dough

2

Place 1 cup of warm water in the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attached. Add 2 ½ teaspoons of yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, ¼ cup of vegetable oil and 3 cups of flour.

2

Mix the dough

10

Knead the dough on low-medium speed until a smooth dough forms. When the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the mixing bowl, it's ready.

3

Prove the dough

60

Transfer the dough to a large greased bowl. Roll the dough around in the bowl to coat all sides. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it in a warm area to rise until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.

4

Divide dough into 6 pieces

3

Knock the dough back to release any air bubbles. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 6 equal pieces.

5

Heat the oven and prepare a baking sheet

5

Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6

Shape the bunnies

10

Take each dough ball and roll it into a rope shape about 14 inches long. Cut a ½ inch piece off the end, and roll this into a small ball for the tail. Fold each rope in half, and twist it twice, loosely to make the body of the bunny.

7

Place bunnies on baking sheet

2

Place each bunny roll on the baking sheet. Press the overlapping ear down to prevent it from rising too high. Press the little dough ball into the folded end of the twist to make the tail.

8

Leave to rise

10

Leave the bunnies in a warm place for 5-10 minutes to rise.

9

Brush with egg wash

1

Brush the bunnies with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

10

Bake

25

Bake the bunny rolls in the oven for 23-25 minutes until they are golden brown on top and cooked on the edges.

11

Brush with butter

2

Remove the rolls from the oven and brush the tops with butter.

12

Serve

When I first saw these I thought they looked a bit too plain so I decide to use some food coloring and made the dough different colors. Turned out fantastic after that! Get creative and experiment if you really want this to be a snack everyone remembers.
