These Chocolate Hazelnut Cake Balls are a must-try for any chocolate lover this Valentine’s Day. Bite-sized cake balls made of crumbled chocolate cake mixed with chocolate hazelnut spread and chopped hazelnuts, and dipped in dark chocolate. Yes, you need only four ingredients!

The process is not very difficult. You will just need to bake and cool a cake ahead of time, then crumble and mix it with a nut spread. To make rolling cake balls easier, I use food-safe gloves. Crumble cake

In a large bowl, use your hand to crumble the chocolate cake into fine crumbs.

Add spread and nuts

Add ½ cup chocolate hazelnut spread and ½ cup chopped hazelnuts to cake crumbs. Mix with your hands until combined. If the mixture is too dry, add some more chocolate hazelnut spread.

Form cake balls

Form the cake mixture into tablespoon-sized balls and roll them between hands to make them round. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Melt chocolate

After the balls are chilled, melt 8 ounces dark chocolate over a double boiler.

Dip cake balls

Using a fork, dip cake balls into the chocolate one at a time, shake off any excess. Place coated cake balls back on the baking sheet. Leave to dry and harden.

Drizzle with chocolate and top with nuts

Re-warm the chocolate coating if necessary. Drizzle the cake balls with chocolate and top with chopped hazelnuts. Refrigerate until set for about 15 minutes.

Serve or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
