16 oz Potato Gnocchi
Kosher Salt to taste
2 tbsp Unsalted butter
4 oz Ham steak, diced
3 tbsp Shallots minced
2 cloves Garlic thinly sliced
1 cup Heavy cream
2 oz Parmesan cheese freshly grated, plus more for garnish
Black pepper freshly ground , to taste
1 cup Frozen peas thawed and divided
Basil fresh leaves, for garnish

Sometimes I really crave a great pasta dish and this Creamy Baked Gnocchi with Ham and Peas always fits the request. Perfectly poached gnocchi in a creamy, garlic and shallot sauce with ham, peas and Parmesan and seasoned with salt, ground black pepper and fresh basil leaves. These ingredients are a perfect match for a cold, winter, curl up on the couch dinner!

Steps to make Creamy Baked Gnocchi with Ham and Peas

Preheat oven

Preheat oven to 375 ºF.

Cook gnocchi

Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add about 1 tablespoons salt and 1 (16 oz) package of gnocchi. Cook until gnocchi floats to the surface then remove from water and set aside on a plate.

Cook ham

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter and add 4 oz diced ham. Cook for a few minutes until crispy then remove from skillet and set aside with gnocchi.

Prepare sauce

In the same skillet over medium, add 3 tablespoons minced shallots, 2 thinly sliced cloves of garlic and 1 cup of heavy cream. Simmer until sauce has thickened and reduced by a third.

Add Parmesan

Sprinkle 2 oz grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper. Stir to mix through.

Add pasta and peas

Add cooked gnocchi, ham and ½ cup peas. Lower heat and simmer for 1 minute.

Bake

Transfer to a shallow baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for about 18-20 minutes until thickened.

Serve

Garnish with remaining ½ cup peas and fresh basil leaves for serving!

Accidently used salted butter instead of unsalted! Please be wary of the differences because they are HUGE! With the salted butter it was really bitter.
