Fluffy Japanese Milk Bread rolls are one of my favorite bread recipes to make and to eat! These little fluffy rolls are delicious when served warm from the oven. They are unbelievably soft and they smell absolutely amazing when baking. You will never need any other Japanese milk bread recipes once you’ve tried this one.

Start by making a smooth and elastic dough which springs back when you press it with your fingers. Divide the dough into even 12 pieces and shape each piece into a round ball. Sprinkle the tops with flour and bake in a preheated oven and enjoy warm.

Steps to make Fluffy Japanese Milk Bread

Make dough

Place 260 grams of bread flour, 180 grams of cold milk, 1 teaspoon of dried yeast, and 30 grams of granulated sugar in a large bowl and stir until just combined.

Knead dough

Use your hands to knead the dough until smooth and elastic. This should take about 10 minutes. When the dough springs back when pressed with your fingers and it is no longer sticky, it’s ready.

Let the dough rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl in a warm oven and leave it to rise for about an hour.

Preheat oven

Heat the oven to 300 °F.

Divide the dough

Divide the dough into 12 evenly sized pieces. Roll each one into a round ball. Leave them to rise for 30 more minutes. Sprinkle the top of each roll with flour before baking.

Place the rolls in the preheated oven and bake for about 18 minutes.
