2 cups Macaroni dry elbow, cooked, rinsed, and drained
⅓ cup Celery diced
¼ cup Onion soaked in cold water for 5 minutes, drained and minced
1 tbsp Parsley flat-leaf, minced
½ cup Tomatoes vine-ripened, diced (optional)
½ cup Mayonnaise prepared
¾ tsp Mustard powder
1 ½ tsp Sugar
1 ½ tbsp Apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp Sour cream
½ tsp Kosher Salt plus more to taste
Black pepper freshly ground

Everyone knows the infamous American Macaroni Salad served at almost every American barbecue! And now I’ve found a scrumptious recipe! It’s quick and simple to make, with flavors that the whole family can enjoy!

Even if we’re not having a barbecue, I serve this dish as a side to roast chicken or even grilled salmon. And my kids love it the most in their lunchboxes for school. So versatile, so easy and so yummy!

Steps to make American Macaroni Salad


Mix salad ingredients


In a large bowl combine the macaroni, celery, onion, parsley and tomato, if using.


Prepare dressing


In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, vinegar, sour cream and salt.


Combine salad and dressing


Pour the dressing over the salad and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.



Serve. Store covered in the refrigerator, for up to 3 days.

Very filling it's not your average lightweigh salad, this is more like a full on lunch which is perfect for when you work all day :) I recommend adding a few cucumbers too for a crunch.
