This easy-to-follow recipe uses one bowl for the cupcakes and one for the frosting. While the cupcakes are cooling, you can make the frosting. Heat oven and prepare cupcake pan

Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Line a cupcake pan with paper liners.

Combine dry ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, ½ cup cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt.

Add in 1 egg, ½ cup milk, ¼ cup oil, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
