This Mincemeat Tart, aka mince tart, is filled with flavorful apples, dried fruit, and spices. This recipe is great for your holiday meal planning as it is an easy and quick treat to whip up that is so delicious. And if you love mincemeat, you will love this festive tart too.

For this recipe you will need a 10×4-inch rectangular fluted tart pan with the removable loose bottom and two different star cookie cutters the size you choose. You will also need a bit of brandy for this recipe. If that’s not your thing, and you don’t want to use alcohol, orange juice is a good substitute. Make sure to prepare the mincemeat filling at least one day before making the tart so that the fruit can soften and the flavors can meld.

To make the Mincemeat Tart, you will need the following ingredients:

Ingridiens for Mincemeat Tart

Steps to make Mincemeat Tart

1

Prepare mincemeat filling

24h

1-2 days before making the tart, combine 3 cups dried fruit, 1 grated apple, ½ cup brandy or orange juice, ¼ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup orange marmalade, and 1 teaspoon mixed spice in a large bowl. Cover and store in the fridge, stirring occasionally.

2

Make tart crust

2

In a food processor, place 1 cup all-purpose flour, ½ cup almond flour, ⅓ cup powdered sugar, and 125 grams chilled butter and process until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs. Add 1 egg yolk and process until just comes together.

3

Cover and chill

30

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and lightly knead until just smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill.

4

Roll out

30

Reserve ¼ of the dough. Roll out the remaining dough on a lightly floured surface to a ⅛-inch-thick rectangle. Line a 10x4-inch rectangular fluted tart pan with the removable loose bottom with the dough and trim the edges. Place in the fridge for 30 mins to chill.

5

Preheat oven

5

Preheat the oven to 390° F. Remove the tart pan from the fridge and place on a baking tray. Line the tart crust with baking paper and fill it with baking beans.

6

Par-bake tart crust

20

Bake for 10 minutes then remove the paper and beans and bake for 10 minutes more or until lightly golden.

7

Add mincemeat

2

Reduce the oven to 350° F. Spoon the fruit mincemeat into the tart and smooth the top.

8

Cut out stars

3

Roll out the reserved dough on a lightly floured surface. Use star cookie cutters to cut out the star shapes. Place them over the fruit mince.

9

Bake

15

Bake for 15 minutes or until the stars are lightly golden.

10

Serve

Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or brandy custard, and enjoy!
