Who doesn’t love fresh and fruity jello on a hot summer day? This Vegan Watermelon Jello is a fantastic recipe if you are in the mood for jello. Many vegans are wary of jello because it is often made using gelatin but this jello is different because it uses agar-agar which is a plant-based gelatin substance from seaweed.
Bring strained watermelon juice and agar-agar to a boil in a saucepan. If you are using sugar, add it and wait for it to dissolve. Once the agar-agar has dissolved fully, switch off the heat. Pour the mixture into small jars or a mold of your choice. Let the mixture cool down to room temperature before placing the jar in the refrigerator to chill and set.
To make Vegan Watermelon Jello, you will need the following ingredients:
Place 2 cups of strained watermelon juice and 1½ tablespoons of agar-agar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
If using, add 2 teaspoons of sugar and stir until it dissolves.
Once agar-agar has fully dissolved, switch off the heat under the saucepan.
Pour the jello into a mold of your choice and let the mixture cool down to room temperature.
Place the molds in the refrigerator and leave to set for 30-40 minutes.
