1 tsp Dried basil
½ tsp Salt

1 can (15-oz) Tomato sauce
1 can (14½-oz) Diced tomatoes undrained
1 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tsp Sugar
¼ tsp Cinnamon ground
2 cups Rigatoni or large tube pasta, uncooked
4 oz Feta cheese crumbled

I love to make this simple Greek Style Ground Beef & Lamb Pasta Bake. It is full of delicious Greek flavors like oregano, lemon, and feta cheese. When I eat this, if I close my eyes, I can almost imagine that I’m back on one of Greece’s beautiful islands.

To make this delicious bake, start by cooking beef and lamb. Add onion, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and thyme, along with tomato sauce, tomatoes, and lemon juice. As the sauce simmers, cook the pasta according to package directions and drain. Mix with the sauce and transfer to a baking dish. Sprinkle with feta cheese and bake until cooked. Delicious!

Steps to make Greek Beef & Lamb Pasta Bake

Preheat oven and prepare baking dish

Heat your oven to 325 °F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.

Cook meat

Cook ½ pound each of beef and lamb in a large skillet, over medium heat until no pinkness remains. Drain excess grease.

Add remaining ingredients

Add 1 large chopped onion, 4 minced garlic cloves, 3 teaspoons of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, ½ a teaspoon of salt, ¼ teaspoon of pepper, and ¼ teaspoon of dried thyme. Stir in 1 can of tomato sauce, 1 can of tomatoes, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.

Simmer

Bring the sauce to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add sugar and cinnamon

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon and continue to simmer for 15 minutes.

Cook pasta

As the sauce simmers, cook the pasta in a large pot of water, according to package directions. Drain the pasta and stir into the meat mixture.

Bake

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with 4 ounces of feta cheese. Cover the dish and bake in the oven for 45 minutes. Remove the lid and continue to bake for 15 more minutes until heated through.
